Drobnik KG, Austria and Peer Assembly Ltd., Ireland – We are announcing that effective today Peer Assembly has acquired the Linguan Mac app.
Linguan is a Mac-based tool for comfortably editing localization strings in iOS and Mac apps. It is used and loved by more than 10,000 users. Linguan also verifies that when new languages or features are added to localized apps that there are no translations missing.
Linguan was developed and marketed by Drobnik KG in partnership with Byte Poets GmbH, also based in Austria. Both companies had too much else on their plate to be able to put the amount of time into Linguan that it deserved. Therefore the decision was made to search for a buyer.
Denis Hennessy, CEO Peer Assembly said about the acquisition:
“Linguan has become a part of our workflow over the past year and I’m very excited to be taking over the reins. As more and more App Stores open around the world, it’s no longer an option for developers to ship their apps in English only. We have some big features planned for Linguan in 2014 – stay tuned!”
We are extremely happy to find agreement with Denis Hennessy for the acquisition and that he shares in our vision about Linguan’s future. We believe that we are putting the app into the best possible hands as Peer Assembly has shown that they are diligent and productive about the projects that they take on.
The next challenge Peer Assembly will be facing with Linguan is to implement support for sandboxing which is a requirement by Apple for Mac app updates since March 2013. This restriction had prevented us from doing any interesting feature additions to Linguan since then.
Drobnik KG is the company behind the Cocoanetics website and services, based in Austria. They are building components for use by other developers, develop apps for large scale clients worldwide and their iCatalog digital catalog framework brings the paper catalogs by dozens of companies to life.
